Stage 1: Single Technology

If you look at your smartphone you can see that it is a beautiful mix of technologies working together in harmony. There are many technologies upon which your phone is built, from the screen and camera through to the processor and variety of wireless communication systems (e.g. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth).  Each of those myriad technologies all have to work well and together – and you would not use a smartphone that did not have them all.

In this first Stage we look to develop a variety of individual technologies in parallel – hence its title “Stage 1: Singe Technology”. However, this is done with a clear vision of what the final combination of technologies will have to be if it is to be a success – on the market and treating patients.

Success is not delivering a feature; success is learning how to solve the customer’s problem.
— Eric Ries, The Lean Startup

An example of Stage 1: Single Technology is illustrated in our Case Study.

Performing this Stage 1: Single Technology well is key to accelerating the journey to launch and removing the unnecessary clunky handover to the next Stage, Stage 2: Pre-Company.
